Why do fat people always use "Thyroid" as an excuse?
Having a medical problem that makes you unable to lose weight is EXTREMELY rare, yet it seems like just about every one of the 100 million overweight people in the world use this as an excuse.
Hypothyroidism is extremely uncommon, and if you actually had it, you wouldn’t have any appetite at all. Furthermore my doctor told me that the most your metabolism could be slowed down in hypothyroidism is by 5 or 10 %…….that really nothing. Hypothyroid or not, you wouldn’t gain weight if you didn’t also overeat.
WHY are so many fat people allowed to use this as an excuse? It is not accepted by the medical community. Isn’t it about time these people took some responsibility?

Cheerleading question?
Cheerleading: being stronger/losing weight?
okay, so im the fattest girl on the team. the only people heavier are the boys(theres about 10 people on the squad). my coach wants everyone to fly, but i KNOW im too heavy for our boys. I also need to get in better shape, get more upper body strength and stuff like that.
i mainly base, and im not strong AT ALL. if i could lift more weight, that would be awesome! i’ve got strong leg muscles, so that helps some, but my arms are SO weak.
ALSO, i would love to be able tofly. our practices arent that hard, we usually only run abuot 3/4 of a mile, and do abs for a minute and arms for a minute.
SO my question is: what are some excersizes i can do at home, and what can i do to lose more weight?
BACKGROUND: i had hpyerthyroid, so bsicly my motablolism was really fast, and i ate alot and still stayed really thin. but now, im hypothyroid, so my metabolism is super slow (yes, im taking medecation) and i gained about 30 pounds becase i still eat as much as i used to. i weigh 150 pounds rightnow. UGH
PLEASE HELP ME!!

getting started (weight loss)?
Well, I’m 16. 5′10, and I weigh 210 pounds.
I’m not huge, but I have a pudgy stomach, chubby hands, etc.
I’d like to lose some weight, but IDK how or where to begin. I’m hypothyroid so my metabolism is slower which causes my body to burn calories at half the rate of a normal person. I take meds but I still only burn calories 3/4 as fast as a normal person.
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to get started? I’m sick of looking ay myself in the mirror and seeing this fat guy.
Thanks.

Could she have a hormonal issue?
I have a friend who is very overweight. She has to be close to 300lbs. The thing is, she is very active. She’s got kids, and is always doing active things with them. We’ll go to the park and she chases after them just fine. And although she doesn’t eat super healthy…it doesn’t seem like she eats worse than most people. She has thyroid issues, but so do I. I’ve had hypothyroid for 14 years now. I don’t have such a weight problem as her. Do y’all think that it sounds like her other hormones could be out of balance? Or can people just be that big because of slow metabolism or something?

How to lose the most weight?
I am 18 and trying to lose weight. I have been trying to lose weight for years and it just never seems to work. I have a hypothyroid ( which basically means my metabolism is slower than normal), I take medicine to speed it up, but would that still effect my weight loss efforts? I have a few trips planned this summer and want to lose about 30 lbs (in the long run). I ate healthy and what what I eat now and I play Biggest loser on Wii ( which really works). Any tricks to burning fat, besides what I am doing?

Teen is need of Weight Loss?
I have been overweight since third grade, (I weighed 150 lbs, yikes, I know) but now I am 15 and weigh 190 lbs). I don’t eat more than other kids (I swear to God I don’t) but I don’t loose any weight. I am 5′ 11”, and have a beer belly from hell. My mother had hypothyroid, but I don’t think it travels in families. I have access to my school gym twice a week for 30 minutes, but that’s it. I cannot go any other time. I might have a slow metabolism, but I don’t know what to do if I do. Am I screwed? Advice please.

what are some ways I can naturally regulate my metabolism?
I am going on 40, and my metabolism slowed down about 5 years ago. My weight has fluctuated, and now I am overweight, with no energy and have been diagnosed with depression. I truly believe it has a lot to do with my metabolism. I have had two different dr.’s test my thyroid, and they said it was normal, which I don’t believe since I have all but two of the symptoms of hypothyroid. I just want to approach this from a nutrition point of view, rather than jump on the first medication some doctor is willing to prescribe… Thanks for any and all tips, except those of extreme and unnecessary sarcasm, of which I would be happy to block! ![]()
